Lock repair
A stiff lock almost never fails all at once: it has been warning you for months. And often it is not broken at all — the door has dropped and the bolt no longer meets the strike plate cleanly. That gets adjusted, and it costs considerably less than replacing everything. It gets looked at before anything is decided.
How it works

Finding the fault
The lock is tested with the door open and closed. If it works open and fails closed, the problem is the door alignment, not the mechanism.

Repair or replace
I tell you which of the two you need and what each costs. If repairing is worth it, it gets repaired.

Adjustment and maintenance
Setting the hinges and strike plate, and lubricating with the proper product.

Checking
Tested several times from both sides before it is called finished.

The price above is what gets charged. These are the only reasons it could change, and you are always told before anything starts:
- Whether it is adjustment, maintenance or replacing parts
- Whether the lock is a common model or discontinued
- The state of the frame and the hinges
- Emergency or booked appointment

Frequently asked questions
It is stiff but it opens. Can I leave it?
You can, but this is exactly the warning that comes before being locked out. Fixing it by appointment costs considerably less than an emergency on a Sunday.
Can I put oil or WD-40 in it?
Better not. Oil-based lubricants attract dust and in the medium term make the sticking worse. Locks want graphite or a proper dry lubricant.
My key has snapped inside. Can it be got out?
Nearly always yes, with an extractor and without destroying the lock. Do not try to pull it out with pliers: that usually pushes the piece further in, and then there is no option left but replacement.
