Lock change
Changing the whole lock only makes sense when the mechanism is damaged, has been forced, or is so worn that it already fails. If what you want is to cancel a set of keys, the cylinder is nearly always enough and costs considerably less. It gets looked at first, you are told which of the two you need, and you decide.

The price above is what gets charged. These are the only reasons it could change, and you are always told before anything starts:
- Type of lock: mortice, rim or security
- Whether the door is timber, metal, reinforced or armoured
- Whether the door needs adjusting or machining
- Emergency or booked appointment

Frequently asked questions
Do I need a new lock or just a new cylinder?
If the mechanism works fine and the problem is the keys, the cylinder is enough. If the lock has been forced or is failing, it has to be changed. It gets looked at before anything is decided.
How long does it take?
A standard replacement is under an hour. If the door has to be machined because the new lock is not identical, it takes longer.
