An armoured door is not a strengthened door: it is a steel assembly — leaf and frame — made as a single piece. That is why the frame has to be replaced, why it counts as building work, and why it is what genuinely stops levering. It is fitted by appointment, with the van, and normally by two people.

The price above is what gets charged. These are the only reasons it could change, and you are always told before anything starts:
- Dimensions of the opening and whether it is single or double
- Grade of the lock and number of anchor points
- Interior and exterior finish
- State of the opening and how much building work is needed

Frequently asked questions
How long does fitting take?
The fitting is a matter of hours. What takes time is manufacture, because it is made to measure: reckon on several weeks from the day measurements are taken.
Is building work involved?
Yes, the frame is replaced too. There is usually some paint or plaster to make good around it, and it is worth knowing that in advance.
Is it worth it over reinforcing the one I have?
If you want the maximum and you are staying in the property for years, yes. If it is a rental or the budget is tight, a well-fitted reinforced door with a good cylinder gives a great deal for what it costs.
