Does it guarantee nobody gets in?
There are no guarantees. It makes forcing the door take time and noise, and that is enough for most to look elsewhere. No lock is unbreakable, and anyone telling you otherwise is selling you smoke.
People are already inside — can you change it?
No. With people inside, changing the lock can amount to a criminal offence of coercion even though the property is yours. That is a matter for a solicitor and a court, and I will tell you so on the phone without charging you a call-out.
Is it worth it over an ordinary security lock?
The difference is about €10 over a security lock. If the property is going to stand empty for long stretches, yes it is.
