Anti-squatter locks
An anti-squatter lock is a high-resistance lock designed to make forcing the door slow and noisy. It does what it does: stop someone getting in. If people are already inside, the problem stops being a locksmith matter and becomes a court one — and I will tell you that plainly on the phone rather than sell you a lock that will not solve anything.
What is included
- A look at the real weak point of the door, which is often not the lock
- A high-resistance lock or escutcheon, whichever is actually needed
- Reinforcing the strike plate if the frame allows it
- A check that the door still closes properly

What can change the price
The price above is what gets charged. These are the only reasons it could change, and you are always told before anything starts:
- Whether a protective escutcheon is enough or a full lock is needed
- Type of door: timber, metal, reinforced or armoured
- Whether the frame needs reinforcing too
- How many entry doors need protecting
Where it is covered
54 towns between Barcelona and Tarragona.
Frequently asked questions
Will an anti-squatter lock stop my home being occupied?
It cuts the risk a lot, because most entries are made by the quickest, easiest route. But no lock is unbreakable: what it does is make forcing it take time and noise, and that is usually enough for them to try another door.
Someone is already inside. Can you change the lock?
No. With people inside, changing the lock yourself can amount to a criminal offence of coercion, even though the property is yours. That is a matter for a solicitor and a court. I will tell you that on the phone and not charge you a call-out for nothing.
What protects more, the lock or the escutcheon?
It depends where the attack would come from. The escutcheon protects the cylinder from being pulled or drilled; the lock resists levering. I look at the door and reinforce what is genuinely weak, not what is most expensive.
Is it worth it on an upper floor?
Less than on a ground or first floor, but the main entrance door and the storage room count too. It is worth looking at the whole thing.
