Anti-bump locks

Bumping is a technique that opens basic cylinders in seconds, without forcing and without leaving a visible mark. That last part is what matters: with no signs of force, plenty of insurers argue about the claim. An anti-bump cylinder carries special counter-pins that stop the technique working.

What can change the price

The price above is what gets charged. These are the only reasons it could change, and you are always told before anything starts:

Frequently asked questions

How do I know if my cylinder is vulnerable?

If it is the one that came with the flat and has never been changed, almost certainly yes. Basic builder-fit cylinders are the standard target. One look is enough to tell.

Are anti-bump and anti-pick the same thing?

No, they are two different attacks. A decent cylinder protects against both, but it is worth checking that it says so rather than assuming.

Does the whole lock need changing?

No. Bumping attacks the cylinder, so changing the cylinder is enough. The lock and the door stay as they are.

What is the ownership card?

A card proving you own the cylinder; without it the manufacturer will not cut copies of the key. It is what stops anyone duplicating your keys at a kiosk.
